Sex in the Morning—or at Night?

Q: My husband likes sex in the morning. He says he has more energy then and feels more fresh. I beg to differ. I appreciate a freshly showered husband. Any hint of BO makes me want to run. (I hate the slight smell of garbage in the kitchen too, which is why we have a miniscule garbage can and the contents go out of the house twice a day.) That’s why I like sex at night. He always comes home and showers after work. Just the scent of his Herrera for Men turns me on if I catch a whiff of it. Plus, to me, nighttime is more romantic with dimmed lights. We never seem to agree on when to have sex. So who should win?

A: Why does someone have to win and someone have to lose? Why not make it a win-win for both of you? Take advantage anytime the urge strikes. Tell your husband up front that you need him to take a shower. That any armpit smell makes you not as eager to engage. If you compare it to how you feel about the kitchen garbage and explain kindly how sensitive you are to smells, he’ll clearly get the picture without being offended. (You’re not the only woman who is sensitive to smell. I have a daughter who has a nose like a German shorthaired pointer on the scent of a pheasant. She can identify any aroma—good or bad—from 50 paces off.)

Also tell that husband of yours that the scent of his cologne turns you on. I assure you he’ll be ordering more from Amazon to stock up. And I guarantee that he’ll pop out of bed like the Energizer Bunny and sprint for the shower when he wakes up, so he’ll be fresh for you. Why not have sex in the morning and sex at night too? Problem solved. Just realize that if you want the whole enchilada, it sometimes takes men, especially older men, a bit of time to regroup.
